Real Weddings: Louisa & Travis' Wanaka wedding

On Louisa and Travis’ wedding day they both changed their name. I love love loved so much about their day (especially how ‘their wedding their way’ it was!) but this was my favourite part.

Growing up Travis’ maternal grandparents played a huge part in his life. As they’d had only daughters their name would have ended with them. But as their wedding was a new beginning for both of them, Louisa and Travis opted to take the opportunity to begin this new chapter of their lives together with a name new to both of them – Hoogduin, Travis’ grandparents name.

Wanaka’s weather turned it on for them. The view from Criffel Station’s beautiful ceremony spot was at its tip top best (the day before at rehearsal had been cold, windy and rainy, so it was all the more amazing for that!)

Also my favourite part, Louisa chose to go stag on her walk down the aisle. She was preceded by her three magnificent bridesmaids, but this walk as a grown ass independent woman was hers to take alone. And she rocked it!

They had friends and family from all over NZ, Australia and beyond and every one of them was there with a lot of love for these two lovely humans.

They shared the most eloquent and romantically practical vows with each other. My fave line being I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I’ve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are

And also my favourite part was this!

They were both winners on the day but Travis did a great job of celebrating in style, showering most of the bridesmaids and a few guests in Veuve Cliquot in the process. (Don’t worry Louisa had a turn later, up a mountain no less!)

Also my favourite part was their super special memory making heli flight for some top of the world photos.

Also, my favourite part was the warm glow that was their first dance.
